Inlays/ Onlays

In the situation where you may require a medium to large restoration of a tooth with a mild to moderate amount of decay, yet the surrounding tooth is healthy, we might recommend and inlay or an onlay for a superior result.  This style of restoration provides a stronger outcome due to the use of porcelain materials and a detailed hand-made fabrication.  Inlays and onlays are bonded directly onto the tooth, which actually increases its strength by up to 75% as a result and they can last from 10 to 30 years.

The procedure for an inlay or an onlay is most commonly completed over two visits.  The first visit involves the preparation of your tooth followed by careful impressions and measurements taken of the tooth’s treatment zone.  Following this, you will be asked to return for the cementation appointment, which is usually 2 weeks later.

The benefits of inlays and onlays include improving the overall strength and durability of your tooth whilst also offering a long-term optimal aesthetic result.
